1. To stop bathroom mirrors steaming up, regularly rub a dry bar of soap over the surface and buff off with a clean lint free cloth.
  2. To clean the bottom of the iron, sprinkle salt on the ironing board and iron back and forth till the tarnishing is removed from the base plate.
  3. To leave a room smelling fresh after you have vacuumed, place a couple drops of your favourite oil (such as lavender or peppermint) under the radiator. The air warms the oil and blows it into the room.
  4. To mask unpleasant odours, put some coffee beans in a saucepan and burn them, instant is fine also. The smell of coffee will overpower the other nasty odour’s. Great tip when setting the property up for viewings.
  5. To remove fingerprints from stainless-steel appliances, place a small amount of baby oil on a napkin and wipe the affected areas. The fingerprints will just wipe away and leave the stainless steel streak free.
  6. When removing heavy furniture you will find heavy indent marks on the carpet material. To remove it simply place a small ice cube on the impression. Wait for it to melt, then hoover and watch the fibres plump right up.
  7. To remove marker pen off hard surfaces, spray on hair spray and then wipe it off.
  8. To restore toilet bowls back to their shiny best, clean with old, flat Cola or Pepsi. To dissolve the lime scale, leave the soda overnight to soak then rinse and wipe clean.
  9. Vacuuming a mattress, particularly along piping and crevices, removes dead skin cells that attract dust mites.
  10. Clove oil kills mould spores. Mix three drops in one litre of water and then use to wipe down areas susceptible to mould. Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth.
